REACH

Information on implementation of the REACH Regulation at Hutmen S.A.

Pre-registration resulting from the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) started on 1st June 2008. This Regulation should ensure a high level of protection of the environment and human health as well as promote the development of alternative methods for the assessment of hazards of substances and the free movement of these substances, while enhancing competitiveness and innovation. The REACH Regulation is a legal act of the Community that need not be implemented by national regulations. In the case of a conflict between the REACH Regulation and any national regulation, the REACH Regulation is prevailing.

The REACH Regulation imposes a registration requirement on any substances present on their own, in preparations and in articles, which are manufactured in quantities of one tonne per year or more.

Considering the obligation imposed by REACH on manufacturers and importers, on October 31 Hutmen S.A. completed pre-registration of the substances included in the manufactured products of copper and copper alloys. This is confirmed by the so-called "Submission reports" received from ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), where a reference number and submission number is assigned to each substance

The co-ordinator for REACH at Hutmen S.A. is Mr. Tomasz Bielawski.
