Approvals

In 1990, the Minister for Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry published a list of 80 plants most detrimental for the environment, which also included Hutmen. This decision was followed by a number of obligations imposed on the Company, aimed at reducing the plant's harmful effect on the natural environment. All of these obligations were met on time and the dust emission level was reduced nearly 30 times.
Having fulfilled all the criteria for removal from the "List of 80 greatest pollutants", by force of a decision issued by the Chief Inspector for Environmental Protection, HUTMEN SA was deleted from the "List of 80" on 21 December 2002.
The legal standing of HUTMEN SA with respect to air pollution, waste management and industrial sewage disposal is now fully regulated. The average annual concentration of dusts and non-ferrous metals in the Company's immediate surrounding does not exceed acceptable levels.

The actions of HUTMEN SA, after the highest standards in dedusting waste gases and reducing pollution have been met, are now directed towards introducing facilities and technologies that minimise waste creation and air pollution. These activities were acknowledged by renowned world pro-ecological organisations, which manifested itself, among others, as follows:

- in 1995, the World Environment Centre awarded HUTMEN SA with a "Certificate for the achievements in waste minimisation",

- in 1996, the staff of HUTMEN SA was awarded a team prize: first distinction in "The All-Poland Competition for the Highest Achievements in Air Protection and Industrial Waste Management as well as the Use of Fuels and Energy, Implemented in the Years 1994-1995". The organiser of the competition was the Air Protection Foundation in co-operation with Dutch Energetics and the Chief Technical Organisation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry, the Minister for Industry and Trade as well as the National Environment Protection and Water Management Fund.

Further action related to environment protection will be directed towards introducing wasteless production technologies.
